Overview

Breaking into product design often requires access to mentorship, industry projects, and professional networks that remain out of reach for self-taught designers and career switchers. OwnPath is an India-based platform offering an intensive Product Design Fellowship that combines masterclasses from industry experts, personalized mentorship, and real-world projects with companies like Postman and Gojek. The program is built around accessibility, offering scholarships and a cohort model designed to help designers from diverse backgrounds land roles at leading startups and enterprises.

My role

As Designer in Residence, I led a complete redesign of the Product Design Fellowship program. I restructured the cohort model, developed curriculum, and built frameworks for community engagement and mentorship. I taught UI Design modules and worked closely with the founding team to optimize operational costs while expanding reach. The goal was to create a sustainable model that could scale internationally without compromising on quality or accessibility.

Outcome

The program scaled to 200+ fellows and 100+ international mentors. The restructured cohort model enabled over £100K in paid mentorship opportunities while maintaining 75% scholarship coverage for fellows.
